Google Pixel Buds A-Series
Pretty OK!
A decidedly simple set of wireless earbuds, but lacking in several features that competition has an edge over.
Review
I got the pair of Pixel Buds A-Series when I bought my Google Pixel 6 phone, and after using it for some time, I wanted to review it before moving on to the Pixel Buds Pro.
It'll be easier to just list some pros and cons of the Pixel Buds A-Series.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- It sits fairly lightly in your ears and doesn't cause a lot of extra weight.
- Easy to carry
- The case is small, and can fit in small pockets with ease.
- Wingtips built in
- Wingtips are integral in keeping the buds locked into your ears.
- Google integration
- If you have a Google Pixel phone (unsure about other Android phones) pairing is easy, and you can easily manage the settings (very minimal).
Cons:
- No volume control
- The only controls you get are play/pause, next/back, and Assistant (which I don't use at all).
- No ANC (Active Noise Cancellation)
- It is an entry level pair of bluetooth earbuds, but it is a point against it nonetheless.
- No transparency mode
- This is also a ding against it, even though it's entry level.
- Non-Google integration is lacking
- I gave my pair to my mom, who has an iPhone. There are little to no controls available to non-Google devices, which, while understandable, makes using it a bit difficult in multidevice contexts.
Summary
Overall, it's simply just a middling set of Bluetooth earbuds. For the price, you can probably get a different pair that has more features, but if you're really in the Google ecosystem (and can find it on sale), it might be worth picking up.
